Whiteland Raceway

     Heat- Brooks drew the pole for the heat.  The track was wet and a fine mist was falling all morning.  They use a standing start where we use a rolling.  Brooks was on pole and they waved the green!  Brooks hit the gas and off comes the chain!  No kidding!  I grabbed him off the track and put it back on.  By this time he was almost a lap down.  I lifted he shield quickly and said "you gotta go"!   Brooks caught the field and passed all but 2nd place!  He was flying!

Feature-Brooks pushed the pole sitter off the line but when they got to the first turn he was almost wrecked by another kart.  Brooks avoided it but gave up second and third to save it.  Brooks worked his was back to 3rd and finally made a strong run with 4 laps to go to take 2nd place.  Brooks ran down the leader from 1/3 of a lap back and caught him at the white flag.  Brooks made a strong run down the long back stretch and drove it deep into the chicane but had to give up the line.  He then made a last attempt off the last turn and drag raced to the finish line but lost by 4 inches the official said.  What a race to finish the outdoor season.
