| Kenny Irwin Jr. Classic. This is our huge event of the year. This day was hot around 96 degrees and humity close to the same. Things were going great but lap times were down for all but us a bit more. Brooks was 4.5 second off and everyone else only a couple. We found out later that the crack had come out of align and needed repressed. Brooks drove his but off falling to 6th on the start, back to 5th on lap 3, back to 6th on lap 10, back to 5th and on to 4th on lap 11, then to 3rd on lap 16. Brooks held on from there with 4 karts on his bumper. He kept it in the groove and held on despite the loss of power. This race although uneventful to the eye might have been one of his best races ever since he probably should have finished last or second to last but Brooks somehow always seems to find a way. Regardless of what the problem or kart count, at the end Brooks is always there upfront. I like to call him my little Mark Martin because he sneaks up on you!
